“It gives you the opportunity to say, ‘this is what we've done and this is why we've done it’.

“Typically, I don't imagine people will remember that much of the conversation, but if they remember who you are, and that you got on well, when something bad happens or when something is needed, they know how to get hold of you.

“A lot of people think the estate planning side of things is focused on the senior generation helping the next generation for inheritance tax reasons.

“But actually if you can get your children involved in your planning, brought up to speed and know your adviser, [it helps them] to understand what's going on."
