Fund Review: Distribution funds target ‘riskier spaces’

Axa Ethical Distribution

Jim Stride managed Axa Investment Managers’ five-strong distribution range since 1984, but handed over the reigns to Matthew Huddart and Jamie Forbes-Wilson at the end of June ahead of his retirement. The duo became co-managers last year, looking to absorb Mr Stride’s wealth of experience in running distribution strategies. EDITOR’S PICK

Artemis Monthly Distribution

Jacob de Tusch-Lec and James Foster have attempted to create a high-performing and strong-yielding fund, and their £518m strategy is doing just that. They have returned 37 per cent over three years and 86 per cent over five, far above the IA Mixed Investment 20-60% Shares sector averages of 20 and 39 per cent, respectively. With a yield of 4.1 per cent, this has not come at the expense of income. The strategy takes big bets in the fixed income market in particular. A third of the portfolio is in high yield, while financials is the largest exposure across the offering.
